It has been awhile since we’ve done a letter from the editors, and we thought with the start of a new month, today would be a good day to let you know about some changes that’ll be happening around here.
Emily and I started this website over a year and a half ago, in January 2015. The last 20 months of producing this site have been fantastic–we’ve worked with some wonderful writers, interviewed some inspiring women, and learned a lot of important lessons about managing a brand, building websites and finding our voice.
Also in the last 20 months, though, our personal lives have evolved quite a lot. I’ve moved and started a new job since we began this journey and Emily, as she alluded to here, is about to welcome a new member to her family. We are so excited and grateful for everything that has been happening, but it has been a struggle to balance all the regular life stuff with managing this website, and we’ve been talking long and hard about how we should move forward.
We still believe in our original mission of spotlighting inspirational women and we don’t want to give that up. So here’s our plan. Over the next two months, we’re going to be scaling back the frequency of our posts, and posting only once per week instead of twice. We are hopeful that this will allow us to do a few things: better balance our personal lives and full time jobs with the running of this website, and take some time to refocus on our original mission of publishing interesting profiles and inspiring essays. When we come back full force, we hope to increase the frequency with which we post profiles and essays, as that was original goal and they seem to be some of the posts that you readers enjoy most.
We can’t tell you how much we appreciate your readership over the last year and a half, the support you’ve given, the comments you’ve left and the articles you’ve shared. We hope that by taking this hiatus that we’ll be able to come back with a fresh focus and continue producing a website built on the idea that every woman has an important story to share. And we hope you’ll stick with us through it.
Thank you, so much,
Bridget & Emily
PS- Further to our goal of publishing more profiles and essays, please reach out if you know a woman you think should be interviewed! We love getting suggestions from readers.
