We are well on our way into winter and experiencing far lower-than-preferred temperatures. Whether you find yourself in snow, ice, or just less-than-balmy breezes, winter can come with some nasty side effects. Static electricity, chapped lips and general un-coziness when venturing outdoors are par for the course this time of year.
Here are our five favorite winter accessories to help you battle the winter blues.
The weather outside is frightful and we’re all adding layers to keep warm. When you are running out the door, don’t forget a scarf! Cotton, wool, flannel…the fabric doesn’t matter, they will all keep your neck warm, but personally we are in love with pashminas. They come in every single shade imaginable (and some patterns too!). Originally marketed as a shawl, but we prefer to wrap them around our necks a few times as a chunky scarf. And as an added bonus, scarves are now outfit-making accessories. So pick a pretty color or pattern to match your top, and keep it on if the office or restaurant is chilly!
2. Sunbeam Heated Electric Microplush Blanket
The name speaks for itself. It’s cold, it’s blustery and this blanket makes it better. The microplush is super soft and cozy and the control allows you to dial the heat up or down. If you are keeping your thermostat low to save some money, this blanket will make sure you stay comfortable. It’s like being enveloped in a super warm hug.
3. Heat Holders
Thick, cozy and fleecy, these socks will keep your toes toasty! Your feet won’t fit into tight shoes with these on, but they’re awesome for hanging around the house. Recently described as a “life changer,” by one BE. consultant, Heat Holders live up to their name. Keep a pair handy to pull on after a day frolicking in the snow.
4. Kamik Boots
Okay so these are technically rain boots, not winter boots, but let’s face it: cute winter shoes are hard to come by! Completely waterproof, these boots will keep your feet dry while sloshing through the slushy dregs of winter. Buy a pair of wool boot inserts (or try your pair of Heat Holders!) and take these from April showers to February blizzards. They come in an array of bright colors, but if you’re looking for something a little more sleek, try the “Olivias.” Their color palette is more muted and with the stylish side buckle you can totally rock them over some skinny jeans.
As a modern woman, you need a modern bag. If you are someone who likes designer bags, more power to you! But if you are looking for something you don’t have to worry about exposing to the elements, look no further than this Merona Hobo. This durable handbag has a modern silhouette, comes in a myriad of colors, and has three large sections. Keep your keys, wallet and phone corralled in the zipped middle section and have the two large side pockets to hold your mittens and other winter accessories. Try the grey or taupe to match anything, or rose for a bright pop of color on a dreary winter day! Or at this price try them all!
